If you want to watch TV on your PC, iPhone or iPad, there's usually a monetary catch involved at some point. Hulu and Netflix cost money, PlayOn costs money and requires you to leave your PC on, and the ABC Player is iPad-only. However, Crackle is a new app that let's you watch many TV shows and several hundred movies truly free of charge. The only catch is that you have to sit through ads.
The app is universal, and delivers much of the same content that is available through the company's web service. TV options include shows like "10 Items or Less", "Barney Miller", "Charlie's Angels", and the new AMC show "The Killing". A lot of the available series are merely "minisodes" and not full episodes. On the plus side, the service recently added a batch of classic Seinfeld episodes, and will be adding 10 different ones each month.
